Prince William County Adopts Zoning Changes
January 13, 2005
Prince William Board of County Supervisors adopted extensive updates to the
county zoning regulations on December 21. These changes will have
significant impact for BC clients. Some of the biggest changes include
larger side setbacks for homes in planned mixed residential districts, and
additional restrictions on construction near slopes and streams.
Another change to note is that the county is now requiring connections to
the public water system for all new residential developments if there is
access to the lines within 2,500 feet, even within semi-rural areas.
Additionally, the Board of Supervisors decided to begin updating the
county's Design and Construction Standards Manual (DCSM). This update
means that developers can expect more changes in county regulations.
